Game 6 was like all important game sixes for us......amazing. LoDuca making a great "glove save" to stop a wild pitch, Reyes with a leadoff home run, Maine throwing 5+ innings of 2-hit ball, Looper giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in less than an inning and Tucker stealing second on a pitch out....there were a lot of tremendous moments.
The Mets played a tight, well executed game between the lines, Randolph could do no wrong from the bench and the fans took care of everything outside the lines. The stadium was rocking. I've gone to games for 37 years now and I have never seen Shea so alive.
Oliver Perez explained his task simply and calmly this morning. "I am going to go out there and do what Paul LoDuca tells me to." That's what you like to hear. The kid has his head on straight.
Put on your lucky garments, warm up your vocal chords to sing the Jose Anthem and get ready to go to battle one last time in our quest to reach the promised land. The Fall Classic beckons.
This is a great team we take to the field tonight. I think we will see great things from them.
