In 4 consecutive games the Mets starters have delivered a lead to the pen and in 4 consecutive games, the bullpen has shut the door. The pitching staff has shown virtually no vulnerability so far and has sent the message to NL managers - somehow get the Mets to put Jorge Julio on the mound, or go home a loser.

Last night it was Bannister pitching out of trouble, getting stronger as the game went on, and showing the composure and maturity of a seasoned veteran.  He also made his Dad Floyd, who bragged about his son's hitting prowess a few days earlier, look good by helping his own cause and collecting his first 2 major league hits.  Heilman looked sharp once again and Wagner, while shaky, did what he had to and finessed out the game with a scoreless 9th inning.  Wagner hit 96 on the radar gun which was encouraging.  Its been speculated that the lack of pre-season appearances and the pain in his thumb has been the cause of his recent "Un-Wagnerlike" appearances.

The bats were alive as well on Tuesday.  David Wright continued his blistering start, keeping alive his streak of getting an RBI in every game this season. Beltran did his best imitation of his Carlos Delgado, launching a monstrous homer that was still rising when it hit the 468 mark on the wall of the upper deck.  We were also treated to the prettiest sight in baseball, Jose Reyes legging out a triple.  His buddy Anderson Hernandez also solidified his grip on the Second base position by getting a hit in his 2nd straight game.
