We are only one day in, but yesterday there were some good signs of things to come at Shea:

-  David Wright was crushing the ball.  His homer was an opposite-field missile and even his fly out to left looked great off-the-bat.

- The infield looked great up the middle.  Both Hernandez and Reyes showed great range and soft hands yesterday.  It is going to be hard to hit one through the hole with these guys.  For a rookie, Hernandez looked really smooth on the double play pivots.

- Good job by LoDuca on the bobble/tag.  He sold that scam like Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glenross (ALWAYS be CLOSING).  Well done, dude.

- The X Factor - I am a Victor Diaz fan, but you can't say anything bad about Xavier Nady yesterday.  Nice production out of the #7 slot.....nice Mets debut.

- The Sandman - I didn't know Wagner had that nasty slider.  How are you supposed to hit that when you are sitting on a 100mph fastball?

- The announcers - Gary Cohen had a great line, calling a pitch by Livian Hernandez "a Bugs Bunny Curveball" (1...2...3 strikes yer out, 1...2...3 strikes yer out).  I also have enjoyed Ron Darling and Hernerndy so far.  Anyone else not missing Fran Healy?

- Brian Bannister going tomorrow.  Sweet.
