An unusual set of circumstances has long shot Jose Lima taking the hill for the Mets today.  What a setting to make your comeback attempt...facing John Smoltz in front of a full house with the opportunity to slide into a possible rotation slot.  In a single afternoon, he can put himself back on the Mets' radar.   With Bannister, Maine and Zambrano down, its go-time for Lima.  There is a lot riding on this day.  Some players like the drama and relish being on the big stage.  Lima has always embraced the spotlight.  The AAA record is not all that great, but the 28-3 strikeout to walk ratio intrigues me.  I think he will rise to the occasion.

Two mediocre starts later its last call at the bar for Lima time.   My optimism is looking a bit unfounded so far.  Hopefully he still has something left in the tank.
