Watching the Mets beat up on NL Pitching this week has been like watching a father swat away his 8-year old's jump shot in driveway basketball....it just doesn't seem fair.
For the second consecutive night, every Met in the starting lineup got a hit. In fact every Met starter, including El Duque, also scored a run in tonight's episode of "Let's embarrass the hometeam". The Mets lineup, which has been potent all year, is operating on all cylinders now, turning in 10+ hits in each of the last 7 games:

The Mets have been coming out of the gates hard - they've scored first inning runs in EACH of the last 7 games. This gives a solid pitching staff the cushion they need to get settled in and allows a previously overworked bullpen to get some much deserved rest.
With 7 wins in a row and 9 out of the last 11, its easy to forget that this squad has been without two of their starting outfielders during this run, their second baseman is plan C on the depth chart and their 4th and 5th starters were not on the opening day roster. This team has stared challenges in the eye and kept right on kicking ass and taking names. Someone tell the Dad its ok to let his kid get a shot off once in a while.
