I felt on opening day that we needed to issue an an emphatic smack-down to the Cardinals to truly begin the healing process from last year.  You can't get much more emphatic than last night's 10-0 whupping . 

·          Maine retires 22 of 24 hitters he faces

·          A combined 3-man, 2-hitter by the Mets squad including 2 Shutout innings by the Pen

·          2 Beltran Homers ( If anyone wanted to extract a measure of revenge it was Beltran)

·          A combined 4-7 from the Alou and Green, the supposedly brittle corner outfielders

·          and oh yea….10 UNANSWERED RUNS!!!

You have to feel good about starting the season with a 20-2 composite score over the team that sent you home for the winter last year.  We go to Atlanta 3-0 and send the Cardinals limping off to Houston 0-3, with their stupid red tail feathers planted firmly between their legs.
