Another day, another carrot.  Yes, Friday night was just another day in the office for the 2007 Mets which, so far this year has meant thunderous bats, flawless pitching, stellar D and generally, just kicking the crap out of their opponents.  When they punched out for the day, they had registered an 11-1 win, making the composite score for the season Mets 31- Hapless Opponents 3. What makes this even sweeter is that the victims of the bludgeoning have been St. Louis and Atlanta.  God I hate those guys.

It took the Mets, who have been in command early in every game, all of 4 pitches to take the lead last night and like Bob Murphy would say, “There was noooo looking back”.  In fact there has been noooo looking back so far in the first 4 games.  We have taken the lead first in every game and never given it up.  That’s  36 innings and counting where we  have been tied (at 0-0) or in the lead..

Of all the Pitchers the Mets have, the one that excites me most is Ollie Perez. He has electric stuff and is just so exciting to watch.  He’s the type you want to make sure you see because at any given time, he could throw a no-hitter or strike out 14, 15, 16 guys.  Last night he gave us 7 excellent innings, striking out 6 and retiring the last 10 hitters he faced.  Most importantly, he was throwing his pitches with the consistently that escaped him in Pittsburg last season.  Rick Peterson is a fricken genius.

Reyes, who had gone an ungodly 3 games without a triple this season made up for lost time with two triples last night.  Man-o-man there are few sights in life a s pretty as watching Reyes go from first to third on a triple.  Its an absolute thing of beauty.  He busts it out of the box but somehow seems to gain speed as he approaches second.  Jose went 3-6 and racked up 4 RBIs before the night was through.

The pitching over the first 4 games has been insane – allowing less than a run a game.  Last night it was the new guys, Burogs and Smith combining on two scoreless innings to secure the win.  Long season…absolutely, but four games into things, Met fans couldn’t ask for much more.
