It felt like the summer of ’06 again.  After a brutal June swoon, the Mets are feeling that swagger again…..the mojo is back.  When the Mets were really in a groove last season, you had a sense that they were always going to find a way to win.  Coming off a sweep of the A’s, and playing with a pep in their step, that’s how it felt last night.

The Cardinals shut down the Mets’ bats completely - combining to allow just 3 hits through 10+ innings and no base knocks over an 8 inning stretch, but it wasn’t enough.  The Mets countered with amazing pitching of their own and a pitch in the 11th that Shawn Green hit into the middle of next week.  It was if, as in kickball, Green took a running start and just demolished the ball.

Feliciano looked great – got 4 straight outs, as did Wagner, who took over in the 8th and retired 6 straight authoritative outs of his own.    That’s 4 straight folks.   Maybe its great pitching,  Maybe its timely hitting or maybe, as I prefer to believe, it’s the uniforms (the Mets have worn their traditional royal blue hats and sleeves over these last 4 games).

Over the last two weeks, it felt like we couldn’t buy a W.  It was like watching the Bizarro-Mets against the Dodgers, Yankees and Twins.  Now, it feels again like no matter what the deal is, we are gonna find a way to pull it out, at least as long as we keep wearing the Royal Blue.
