Its always darkest before the dawn and man-o-manishevitz are things dark right now.  The Mets have dropped 5 in a row whle the Phillies have somehow won 6 straight.  The comfy 7 game lead is down to 1 and a half.  The Mets Blog Fan Conifdence Meter is at a season-low 5.3 and the Mets themselves eem to be playing like scared rabbits.

Met fans are faced with two options - A) Bitch, complain and mope about our current state of affairs or B) Find some inner strength and more important, some faith in a team that has been in first place for us wire-to-wire.  No one said it was going to be easy but adverstiy is what separates the true fans from the garden variety, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately fair-weather hangers-on .

In looking for inspiration, Tug McGraw comes to mind but for alltime great inspirational speeches, little compares to John Blutarsky motivating Delta House not to give up.  We could use a little Bluto in our spirit tonight as Pelfrey takes the hill so, with apologies to Harold Ramis, Let me borrow from Bluto's speech and say:

Did you say "over"? Nothing's over until we decide it is!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell, no!  And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough...the tough get going! Who's with me? Let's go! Come on!

What the "f" happened to the Met Fans l used to know?  Where's the spirit?  Where's the guts?  This could be the greatest season of our lives... but you're gonna let it be the worst.

"Ohh....We're afraid to go with you, Pete....We might get disappointed…well, just kiss my ass from now on!  Not me! l won't take this! The Phiiles are dead to me!   Braves - dead!  Padres – DEAD!!

Let's DO IT!!!
